We will all miss you Dave! |

It only took 10 or 12 years, but I finally got around to making this page
up for our Fishing/Boating story! I do hope you got a chuckle or
two out of it.. I did... was fun remembering that day and the trouble we
had! This is rather crudely drawn, but I'm sure you get the drift!
I did want to memorialize those moments in our history! Now that
you are gone, It means even more to me! Thanks Friend!

Well,
actually the story is told in the above dumb looking picture, but I
It was a bright sunny day, we all decided to go fishing and boating at the same time, we drove to Wilburn Creek Access Area, Shelbyville Lake area. We unloaded the boat, put all the tackle in the boat, parked the car, got in the boat and started off on a beautiful day of fishing! Well, got in trouble right off the bat, seems DAVID, wanted to run the boat and be in charge, he is pushy that way at times. The boat is actually mine, but I let him run it! He would be the Captain that day, I figured why not.. I was tired already anyway! Well, we didn't get far, I noticed that the water pump wasn't putting out any water, so that meant we had to row the boat back to the dock and go see if we could get the motor fixed. That didn't happen at all! We couldn't find anyone to work on it on short notice around the area, so we were stuck! Dave mentioned that he still wanted to go fishing, so we just took the boat back to Lake Decatur and unloaded it again at Faries Park Dock. Dave and I (george), rowed the boat over to the Railroad Bridges by Faries Park, and dropped the anchor and fished in between the bridges for quite awhile. We were doing ok, but then we Started to get kind of warm and also kind of hungry, so we decided to put the boat up and go find something to have for lunch, then go home and forget about fishing til some other time! We, (Dave and I), started rowing, and we rowed..and rowed, seemed like we were fighting a headwind, finally we sat back and rested, (well I did anyway), he stood up on the bow like Napoleon, the dictator. The Gals decided they would row awhile, and before they were totally worn out, we did reach the dock, about the time we got TO the dock, for some reason I looked back and noticed a rope trailing out of the boat going back the way we came from. I said "Hey Dave", "You forgot to tell me to pull in the anchor earlier and its been in the water and mud all the way across the lake"! (Believe me, its tough to drag an anchor through all that MUD!) So, then he comes up with, "Hey, you were back by the anchor, you should have pulled it up"! I countered with, "you were the Captain, you were supposed to be running the boat", "you were supposed to issue the order!", "don't look at me"! I was just doing what I was told! Now folks, this argument has been going on for years... and he still won't FESS UP to his mistake! I don't know what to tell ya.. just have to watch out for the guy, just won't take the blame at all!
I did get even with him though, threw a snowball at me one time, then ducked
into his car! Just so happens the passenger side window was down
about 3 inches. (yep), I got him.. sidearm shot right through the
window... good ol sidearm snowball splat! But, thats another
story!...
