Nice Cell in Shelby County, Illinois just NorthWest of Effingham, Illinois.  I was in Decatur on the North side of town when I stopped and took these pictures.  The first one.. regular pic..2nd zoomed a bit.. 3rd zoomed further!  The funny thing is that Paul Hadfield www.pawleewurx.com and I took almost the same picture but he was closer to the storm than I was.. He was in the Moweaqua area.. and about 18 miles closer to it than I was.. which means HE got the better detailed picture..... durn!!  ;-)

The pictures above are from the April 19, 1996 - F3 tornado that came through our area in Central Illinois.  As it progressed to the East I took 8 pictures of the tornado and then backed up closer to the I-72 berm to get away from the high winds off the tornado!  The incline at the right side of picture is the I-72 berm!   We had quite a bit of damage here in town.  We did have one of our local storm spotters hurt in a house where he went to help a Mother and her two young boys, they huddled together under a stairwell in the basement and the frame of the house was moved over by Wyckles road.. the roof was gone, the chimney fell on Lonnie!  (a very large section), and he was hospitalized for a long time with injuries!  The Mother and her two sons were not hurt!
*Thanks to Lonnie*

Baby Raccoon Rescued!
"Ringo"

ONE baby raccoon rescued, neighbors found it last evening
out in the street, we went over to see what they had, then I
got a terry cloth towel and covered it up and picked it up and
put it in a dog carrier.  Found a nice lady out by Warrensburg
that would adopt him (or her) to raise and will turn (him or
her) loose in the wild when it gets able to be on its own!

He is already  feeding from a bottle for her and accepting her
as Mom!  She is braver than I am.. reached in picked the
raccoon up by the nape of the neck.. ( like a mommy raccoon
would do) and took it in the house, washed the baby, dried
the baby, and put it in another crate.  Didn't take long..
he was HOME!  ;-)      God is good!  ;-)

(ps:  not many storm pictures lately.. figured I'd go with this
until we get some more storms coming through!)

Muggs!

Thunderstorm Alert System by Boston Terrier!

Thanks to Muggs!  Our Boston Terrier Thunderstorm dog!  I know ahead of time when thunderstorms are heading in our direction!  She never misses a storm, her ears go straight up and she gets as close to us as she can and is extremely nervous!    If I'm parked on the couch, 'my usual place', she will come and get as close to me as she can, even climbs up on top of my head and shoulders at times if I'm asleep!  Wakes me up pretty quick when she does that!  LOL    When that happens, I know something is up, I have to roll the van out of the garage and get out and check on the weather!   She has alerted us to storms that are as far away as the Illinois river! (around 80+ miles).   If there isn't much to the storm, if its just rain she says "never mind!"   Ain't no doubt about it ... she's good! ;-)
And NOW her Nephew Pugsley is taking over that job, since Muggs is getting "hard of hearing" the storms don't bother her as much as they used to... Pugs is doing a good job too!  ;-)

~  She does not joke about storms!  ~

~ Sorry Guys and Gals at the NWS/ILX ~
" holler if ya need help "

If the radar shows some activity and she doesn't react...
